vitalink 30th Anniversary Spotlight: Save a Life Guilford

For 30 years, vitalink has helped organizations turn complex challenges into opportunities for meaningful change. Our work with Guilford County to address the opioid crisis is one example of how strategic, compassionate marketing can make a real difference.

Guilford County had seen opioid overdose deaths increase by more than 200%. Although Naloxone was available to residents for free, stigma and a lack of awareness prevented many people from accessing this life-saving resource.

vitalink helped reframe the conversation. Instead of treating opioid addiction as an issue affecting “other people,” the Save a Life Guilford campaign emphasized that addiction can affect anyone—including our friends, family members, neighbors, and loved ones.

Through PSAs, digital and social media, billboards, print advertising, media outreach, and a dedicated website, the campaign encouraged residents to add Naloxone to their first-aid kits and become prepared to save a life.

The results were significant:

  • 174% increase in free Naloxone kit distribution

  • 44% increase in new program participants within six months

  • 5 key community partners united to address the opioid crisis

This partnership represents what vitalink has championed for 30 years: using strategy, storytelling, and collaboration to break down barriers and create meaningful impact.

30 years of building bridges. 30 years of driving change. And we're just getting started.
