vitalink 30th Anniversary Spotlight: Art for Haiti
When the devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on January 12, 2010, the scale of the loss was almost impossible to comprehend: more than 230,000 lives lost, 1.5 million people displaced, and hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses destroyed. Like so many watching the crisis unfold, we were struck by the devastation and wanted to find a way to help.
So we teamed up as a pro bono marketing partner to support Art for Haiti, an art auction and gala organized by Jerry's Artarama and the Maddry Arts Foundation to raise funds for earthquake relief through Habitat for Humanity International.
The Raleigh Convention Center donated a 5,500-square-foot space for the event, and artists from across the community donated original work for both live and silent auctions, from bold, large-scale pieces to smaller framed works. Art collectors, corporate sponsors, and community members came together for an evening built entirely around generosity.
Together, the donations from participating artists and attendees raised nearly $30,000 for Haitian disaster recovery.
Art for Haiti is a reminder that meaningful impact doesn't always start with a marketing brief. Sometimes it starts with people who simply want to help, and the willingness to lend our skills wherever they're needed.
